Stage 1 - Activation & First Reward

Days 0-7 of the user journey

Updated over a month ago

Goal

Convert initial discovery into a successful first experience.

Help users reach their first “Aha!” moment with both Besitos Rewards and your core product.

After users discover rewards, the next step is guiding them to their first successful interaction. This early experience should demonstrate how rewards work and why they are valuable within your product ecosystem.

A strong activation experience helps convert curiosity into repeat engagement.

Key KPIs

  • Day 1 retention

  • Day 7 retention

  • First reward completion rate

  • Time to first reward

  • % of users who connect rewards to a core product action

These metrics help determine whether users are successfully transitioning from discovery into engagement.

Where Activation Fits in the Lifecycle

Activation is the point where discovery turns into meaningful engagement.

After users learn about rewards, the next step is helping them achieve their first successful experience. A quick early win helps users understand the value of rewards and increases the likelihood that they will return.

This stage focuses on reducing friction, reinforcing early progress, and connecting rewards to your core product experience.

Best Practices

1. Create a “Welcome Quest”

Instead of awarding points only for signing up, encourage users to explore the rewards experience.

Example activation flow:

  • Play one game

  • Earn first reward

  • Apply the reward toward a product benefit

Example messaging:

Play your first game to unlock your New User Badge and start earning toward [core product benefit].

This type of guided onboarding helps users understand both the rewards system and its connection to your platform.

2. Deliver Immediate Value

The first reward should be achievable within the first session.

Early wins reduce friction and increase the likelihood that users will return to continue playing.

Recommended approaches:

  • Highlight games with short completion times

  • Offer attainable first-session milestones

  • Provide clear progress indicators

3. Reinforce Early Success

When users complete their first reward, reinforce the achievement.

Example messaging:

Nice work! You earned your first reward. Keep going to unlock even more.
